Letter from the Administrator

River Haven nursing and rehab administrator at her desk

August is National Happiness Month!!!

We here at River haven will be focusing on the positive, staying safe, and helping our community find joy in their hearts during this unprecedented time of our lives. You might be asking yourself, How?

Great question. How can one stay happy or even better find happiness? Upon further thought I went diving through a great book called God in the Marketplace, by Henry & Richard Blackaby and I found a few questions insightful that I’d like to share with you.

  1. How do you represent Christ in your attitude?
  2. What kind of people do you gravitate toward, – those who are positive or those who are negative?
  3. Are your daily actions honorable?

Now, by no means do I expect you to respond to these questions but just ponder on them and think about how they could change your mindset about your happiness.

Happiness can be doing for others, being a shoulder to lean on for someone, being a helping hand, expression of kind words toward someone else, etc. What I’ve learned is that happiness is an attitude and you wear it everyday or you don’t. It’s contagious! When others see your happiness in a smile, they return one back to you. Happiness is amazing.

What we pledge to do is to work each day toward bringing a positive attitude, smile, helping hand, and love in our hearts to our community of residents. We will exude an attitude of happiness through our actions and our outward expressions to those around us.

As the song goes… if you’re happy and you know it then your face will surely show it if you’re happy and you know it clap your hands. It may be childish to sing these old school songs but I hope it brought a smile to your face as it did to mine writing this to you.

Keep your chin up, a smile on your face, and a song in your heart.

With Love,

Kristy Felitsky
